Opened in 2017 the Sun Dancer Restaurant is positioned overlooking the Moray Firth, in the former location of the fondly remembered Sandancer Arcade.

While lovely memories of coppers lost and ice creams eating endure, the dilapidated state of the original Sandancer arcade meant it was necessary for safety to demolish the old building, replacing it with our modern and vibrant Sun Dancer that compliments the surrounding area.

What's in the Name?

It stems from an old fish wives tale that tells of a dolphin who would jump in the Moray Firth until sunset each evening… and the dolphin’s name? “The Sun Dancer Dolphin”. We believed it was only fitting to honour the dolphin and the moray firth that we look onto every evening to enjoy the sunset.

The Restaurant

Set on the first floor of the building, the Sun Dancer specialises in seafood and steak with a menu which boasts a range of dishes all using locally sourced produce. Couple that with the location which provides uninterrupted views over the Moray Firth, and it is no surprise that the Sun Dancer is an award-winning establishment.

The SD Cafe

Situated on the ground floor of the building, our cosy little cafe offers a great selection of food, coffee, cakes and drinks. There is limited seating indoors and ample seating outdoors where guests can enjoy those Moray Firth views. Remember though – come dressed for all weathers – we are in the Highlands after all!
